FarmDiscovery Tours
Every spring and fall the UBC Farm offers field trips for elementary school classes. The field trips are focused on where food comes from and how we grow food. The field trips present an opportunity for students to spend time in our education garden, participate in educational activities and help plant some of our crops for our market garden.
The field trip covers prescribed learning outcomes such as:
- Plant and soil characteristics
- How plant products are recycled back into the environment
- Uses and the importance of water
- The necessity of light, nutrients, and water for plants
- Introduces practices for sustainable resource management
- Understanding where our food comes from
- Encourages responsible behaviour in caring for our environment
